Dr. Matthew R. Swelstad, MD., is a Board-Certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon who specializes in a full spectrum of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, including sub-specialties in microsurgery, hand, craniofacial, and breast.
From the beginning of Dr. Swelstad’s medical career he had a passion for plastic surgery and completed his training at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. At Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, he worked in a research lab reanimating paralyzed vocal cords with implantable electrodes. He also completed a craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery fellowship at Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dr. Swelstad takes pride in helping others feel their best by utilizing his expertise in all areas of plastic surgery, from non-surgical and minimally invasive treatments to craniofacial and pediatric care, reconstructive surgery to correct facial and body abnormalities, and cosmetic surgery.
With a dedication to pediatric care, Dr. Swelstad is active in pediatric clinics, fundraising, and advocacy for children in the Grand Valley. Dr. Swelstad helped start the Micah Montag Pediatric Endowment at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He also enjoys providing pediatric plastic surgery care in Nicaragua.
In his spare time, Dr. Swelstad finds joy in being with his wife and two daughters, rock climbing, skiing, wood carving, and being outdoors.
