About The Procedure
The cosmetic form of Botulinum Toxin Type A, often referred to by its product name Botox®, is a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, crows’ feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck.
The toxin blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. Studies have also suggested that Botox is effective in relieving migraine headaches, excessive sweating and muscle spasms in the neck and eyes.
During Your Procedure
Botox is a simple, non-surgical, 10-minute office procedure. Tiny injections are administered directly into the muscles that cause frown lines between the brows.
Because the procedure is brief and non-invasive, it requires no recovery time.
You will begin to see a softening in the appearance of your frown lines in one to two days. The area between your brow may continue to improve for up to a month. Visible results of Botox procedures last up to four months. As with any procedure, individual results may vary.
With Botox, you won’t look like you’ve had work done. The muscle activity that causes frown lines is simply reduced so you are able to still show facial expressions.
The most common side effects following injection include temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding and bruising may be associated with the procedure.
